Overview
GlobalReach Access provides a fully out sourced SWIFT solution including connectivity, gateway, security measures and access to the Alliance Access messaging application. This giving you everything you need to send and receive messages over SWIFTNet and even upload and download SWIFT messages with your back office system if it can natively deal with SWIFT formatted messages.
Detail
Communication between the customer’s sites to GlobalReach is taken care of by hardware VPN devices (diagram item 1). These devices create an encrypted and extremely secure “Internet tunnel” through which all communications travel. Customer VPN’s create and maintain a tunnel to both the GlobalReach Production and Disaster Recovery sites meaning instant switch over of service is achievable in the unlikely event of a disaster at production.
VPN’s are configured, supplied and installed by Decillion consultants after agreeing a network design with the customer.
The customer gains access to the Alliance Access messaging application via Alliance Workstation if they are using MT or FileAct messages or Alliance Messenger if they are using MT, MX and FileAct. Both applications reside at the service bureau site and are delivered to the customer via Citrix to his or her browser (diagram item 2). This means that when the Workstation or Messenger application needs patching or upgrading this is done at the service bureau and therefore eliminates the need for costly on site visits. Operation of either application is the same experience as if it were directly hosted on the customer’s premises and for those already familiar with Workstation or Messenger will find it identical and will require little or no training.
If required, a printer (diagram item 3) can be employed to print messages sent and received, system messages and reports. If the customer has a back office system (diagram item 4) that can create and receive SWIFT qualified messages, Auto File Transfer (AFT) can be employed and Straight Through Processing (STP) can be achieved between the back office and Alliance Access messaging application.
Each GlobalReach site is housed in a “state of the art” data centre. Industry standard networking devices are employed to terminate customer VPN connections and ensure absolute security (diagram item 5). The infrastructure and applications are shared by multiple customers but segregated to ensure data is secure at all times. Each site has its own dedicated and certified consultants which take care of the system, analyse data from our monitoring system, plan and conduct upgrades, patches and fixes as well as responding to user requests and queries.
The messaging layer is taken care of by Alliance Access (diagram item 6). Alliance Access’ core function is to exchange with SWIFTNet the financial messages generated by back office applications or entered manually. Alliance Access also manages user accounts, message routing, Relationship Management Application (RMA) and ensures messages are SWIFT compliant before hitting SWIFTNet.
Connecting Alliance Access to SWIFTNet requires two communication application’s, SWIFTNet Link and Alliance Gateway which take care of message delivery (diagram item 7). To maintain security of the network all traffic must be controlled by digital certificates unique to each institution. These “PKI” certificates are located on clustered hardware security modules (HSM) as mandated by SWIFT (diagram item 8). GlobalReach connects to SWIFTNet via a SWIFT mandated leased and backup line (diagram item 9).
